Drahthaar Dreams was published in the Shooting Times today (16th November 2006).
David Tomlinson discusses some aspects of the Deutsch Drahthaar with Peter McCullough and in particular Peter’s battle to prepare his young bitch, Pauline for this year’s competition.
Pauline, however had a successful outcome at the Internationale Hegewald in Geseke, Germany, in coming 27th out of 203 of the worlds best young Drahthaars and came very close to making the top 5 dogs.
The article mentions the Deutsch Drahthaar UK website. Many thanks to David Tomlinson and the shooting Times for their continued support and interest in the working aspects of our breed. This is the thris major article they have published in as many years.

Due to some last minute changes, a few inaccuracies were contained in the article;
- The main photo is of Timo II V Bockenhagen, Peter McCullough’s young puppy that is currently being trained for next year’s Hegewald and arrives in the UK in May next year
- Dogs do not have to be pass the Hegewald to be eligible for breeding, but the breed regulations state that they must not have any specific health or coat/conformation disqualifying faults (eg. must be hip dysplasia certified free), they must have passed a toughness evaluation (killing of small predators test) and have passed a minimum of one field test (VJP, HZP, Hegewald or VGP) with a minimum score of sufficient in tracking and independant search in water.
- Timo II V. Bockenhagen is a dog, ie. a son of Kira II V. Bockenhagen, not a daughter.
