Drahthaar to win Crufts Gundog Group today ?
Posted March 8th, 2007 |
Well everyone in German Wirehaired Pointers think it will happen, rumours have been rife for weeks that the hype around Ch Freddy Vom Kapellenhof at Bareve will not only gain him the Best of Breed, but he is a forgone conclusion for the Gundog Group at Crufts.
Certainly, he has had a good run in the show ring this year, largely unbeaten in dogs apart from Ch Just Joking for Kimmax who will be challenging him in the field trial dog class today.
Freddy gained his full Champion status earlier in the year by winning a field trial and has even appeared on TV on the run up to Crufts. Imported from Germany, his owner and handler, Sharon Pinkerton is a well known gundog judge and breeder of German Wirehaired Pointers.
Of course, anything can happen, but with one of the lowest entries at Crufts for German Wirehaired Pointers in recent years, certainly many exhibitors have decided to stay away.
I am sure there will be much interest in Germany about one of their dogs winning the ultimate prize in showing in the UK.
