The First Dual UK/Dutch Titled Drahthaar

At the 31st Internayional Dog Show at Rotterdam on 30-31 August 2008, Sh Ch Pauline II V Bockenhagen at Kimmax became the first ever Deutsch Drahthaar / GWP to gain joint titles in both the UK and Holland.
Although incredibly successful in the Show ring in UK and Holland, Pauline is also the only titled UK ‘Zuchtauglich’ Deutsch Drahthaar, having been trained in the UK but gaining the highest ever place of a UK dog at the Internationale Hegewald. In 2006 she was placed 27th out of 210 dogs at the Hegewald in Geseke, Germany.
Pauline is especially good in water, where she gained the maximum 12 points on the ‘Live Duck’ test at the Hegewald.
Pauline will be continuing with her field work as well as appearing in a number of other European shows to demonstrate that the principle of ‘Performance to the Standard’ followed by the VDD produces not only excellent working dogs, but ones where the VDD’s careful attention to conformation, coat and temperament set them apart as some of the best in Europe.
Coat colour abnormalities in Drahthaars
Severe colour abnormalities are incredibly rare in Drahthaars, yellow roan, tri-colour and predominantly white dogs are severely discouraged and prohibited from breeding in Germany.

74th Hegewald-Zuchtprufung is next week
Well, it is amazing how quickly these things come around. Seems like Timo arrived only a few months ago and now we are off to my 3rd Hegewald.
For anyone, who is going to watch the details are;
The main Assembly point is : Dithmarschenhalle, Meldorf, Schleswig-Holstein (North West Germany, almost Denmark!).

New Docking Law takes effect in England
All puppies born in England from today onwards will not be permitted to be docked unless they are one of the breeds that has a working exemption. Even then the rules in assessing whether the dog’s owner can prove a puppy will be worked are still being worked out.
