The First Dual UK/Dutch Titled Drahthaar

At the 31st Internayional Dog Show at Rotterdam on 30-31 August 2008, Sh Ch Pauline II V Bockenhagen at Kimmax became the first ever Deutsch Drahthaar / GWP to gain joint titles in both the UK and Holland.
Although incredibly successful in the Show ring in UK and Holland, Pauline is also the only titled UK ‘Zuchtauglich’ Deutsch Drahthaar, having been trained in the UK but gaining the highest ever place of a UK dog at the Internationale Hegewald. In 2006 she was placed 27th out of 210 dogs at the Hegewald in Geseke, Germany.
Pauline is especially good in water, where she gained the maximum 12 points on the ‘Live Duck’ test at the Hegewald.
Pauline will be continuing with her field work as well as appearing in a number of other European shows to demonstrate that the principle of ‘Performance to the Standard’ followed by the VDD produces not only excellent working dogs, but ones where the VDD’s careful attention to conformation, coat and temperament set them apart as some of the best in Europe.
Drahthaar gets placed in Group at Crufts 2007
Well the pundits were not far wrong - we predicted on this site this morning, that Ch Freddy Vom Kapellenhof at Bareve (imp Deu), known as ‘Freddy’ would win Best of Breed in German Wirehaired Pointers and win the Gundog group.

German imported Drahthaars dominate at Crufts 2007
The judging of German Wirehaired Pointers (Drahthaars) has finished and although the overall winner this year was much as expected, imported Drahthaars dominated the top places this year demonstrating the quality of the breed in Germany.

Well everyone in German Wirehaired Pointers think it will happen, rumours have been rife for weeks that the hype around Ch Freddy Vom Kapellenhof at Bareve will not only gain him the Best of Breed, but he is a forgone conclusion for the Gundog Group at Crufts.

Drahthaars in Action
Here is a short video of two Drahthaars in training to work together. Kasey (a German Wirehaired Pointer but son of Mirko, a true Drahthaar) has gone ahead and on point on a pheasant in the bracken. Pauline ( a young Drahthaar) is being encouraged by me to close in gradually.
Deutsch Drahthaar or German Wirehaired Pointer ?
